21 Days of Gratitude-Day 5 (Blue Eyes)

For this day I am grateful for this male friend for the following reasons:

  • He is a survivor and one that taught me it hurts when a close friend is sick, particularly when you care for them deeply. 
  • He was the first person to play Brian McKnight to me and I have loved his music ever since. 
  • We are still friends, long after ending our romantic relationships and his ability to communicate has gotten better over the years. 
  • He is intelligent, very! 
  • His ice blue eyes are mesmerizing! 
  • My walking buddy for Valley Green. 
  • His voice is very unique, one you can never forget!

Legacy-Do You Know What Your Imprint with Be from the Grave?

In an article entitled, "Leaving Our Legacies Mindfully", the author discusses how we should think about what our legacy will be and do so mindfully. In a culture filled with selfies, I often wonder how many of us actually care about what our imprint on the world will be when we take our last breathe.  Three things resonate with me from the article: Passion, caring, and living authentically.  When we are passionate about something, we are invested and willing to go beyond the call of duty. Feelings behind our passion are often our reward for the work that we do.  When we care about others, we say to them that their lives matters. One thing that has taken a back sheet to our selfie culture is our ability to truly care about others. This can be how we treat each other on a daily basis and most definitely how we step up in a person's time of need. Paying it Forward

While reading the book, "A Kick in the Attitude" by Sam Glenn, I came across this great quote by him: ""There are some people who come into our lives and do things we can never repay them. I find the best way to honor those people is by giving thanks, living right, thinking right, doing right, and paying it forward."  I often wonder how many people really understand the importance of this statement and that when we are blessed and fortunate enough to meet someone who makes a tremendous impact in our life that is really our duty to not take in vain and we should use the experiences to not only enrich our life but the lives of everyone we meet.  Paying it Forward is a deed that should never be left undone. For never know that when we spread a gift we receive from one person to another that the gift may be just what the new recipient needs.  I am thankful to have received many of these types of gifts in my life and I hope that I have paid a few forward mysel...
