Childhood Is the Key To Our Future

"Everything we need for today’s marketplace we learned as kids".
Lennick, Doug; Kiel, Fred; Huntsman, Jon M.; Parker, James F. (2011-01-04). Essential Lessons on Leadership (Collection) (Kindle Location 231). Pearson Education (US). Kindle Edition.

Read this quote while reading the collection on leadership. Very interesting thought and troubling one, too. In the past, when children were free to roam their neighborhoods, engage in ever-ending play, engage in the arts, and allowed to be children, that statement was very true. Creativity is the heart of our future. When we are creative, we are able to effectively problem-solve and engage in innovative thinking. The past few decades, have carved out natural opportunities for play for children. I suspect that this will lead to less creativity, an increase in poor problem-solving skills, and stressed out children and adults. We definitely need to get back to the basics when it comes to educating children. Although technology will continue to be apart of our lives, it cannot thrive and be used effectively by human beings if we do not give children and adults an opportunity to engage in some good old fashion PLAY!
